Privacy Policy
Last updated October 5, 2026
Fencerow is run by Michael Blythe. This policy covers what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We don't sell your information, we don't run ads, and we don't track you across other sites. To see which pages get used, we count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't identify you.
What we collect
- Account: when you sign in with Google, it sends us your name, email address, and profile photo. We store only your email address in our database. Your name and photo are kept in your browser's sign-in cookie so we can show who's signed in.
- Farm records: what you enter, such as organization, farm, and field names, acreage, soil notes, crops, years, costs, and the results we calculate from them.
- Billing (Pro only): your plan, its status, renewal or end date, and the IDs Stripe uses for your customer and subscription. Link, Stripe's checkout service, collects your card details and billing address directly as the merchant of record. We never see or store your card number. Link's own privacy policy covers what it does with that information.
- Technical logs: our hosting providers record IP addresses and requests in short-term server logs to keep the service running and secure.
How we use it
Only to run Fencerow: to sign you in, store and calculate your records, enforce plan limits, take payment, and answer you if you contact us. We may email you about your account, billing, or changes to these policies. We don't send marketing email.
When you look up USDA prices or yields, we send USDA the crop, state, and year only. None of your personal information or farm records go to USDA.
Who else handles it
| Service | What it does for us | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in | Your name, email address, and profile photo, sent to us when you sign in | |
| Vercel | Hosts the website | Pages you request and your IP address, in request logs |
| Fly.io | Runs the application server (US East) | Your farm records and account email while requests are handled; IP addresses in logs |
| Neon | Database (AWS US East, Ohio) | Your account email, farm records, and plan status |
| Cloudflare | Visit counts (Web Analytics) | The page you're on, the site that linked you, your browser and device type, and your IP address while the count is recorded. No cookies, no local storage, no fingerprinting. |
| Stripe and Link | Pro purchases. Link, Stripe's checkout service, is the merchant of record: it takes payment, handles sales tax, sends receipts, and answers payment questions. | Your email address, billing address, and the card details you give it directly |
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, such as a valid court order, and we'll tell you about it unless we're legally barred from doing so.
Where it's stored
In the United States. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest by our database provider.
How long we keep it
As long as your account exists. When you delete your account from the Account page, your account and farm records are deleted right away (or within 30 days if you ask us by email instead). Stripe keeps payment records for as long as tax and financial laws require, and database backups roll off within a short period after that.
Your choices
- See, change, or print your farm records any time in the app.
- Delete your account and all your records yourself, any time, from the Account page. Or ask for a copy of your data, or for us to delete it, by emailing info@fencerow.farm. We respond within 30 days.
- Cancel Pro any time from the Billing page.
Depending on your state (California, for example), you may have additional rights to know, correct, or delete your information. Email us and we'll honor them. We don't sell or share personal information as those laws define it.
Cookies
One: the sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in. No advertising or tracking cookies, and the visit counter sets none.
Children
Fencerow is for adults running farm operations. It isn't meant for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll email you or show a notice in the app before it takes effect.
